Male Mini Abdominoplasty

The mini abdominoplasty is a variation of the traditional abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck – a procedure that concentrates on contouring a larger area of the stomach and flanks. The mini tummy tuck is often more suitable for those who require less of the stomach area to be addressed, often focusing on the lower part of the stomach.

The procedure is aimed at reducing fat and / or excess skin through surgical techniques that can also tighten and smooth the abdomen. The procedure can also address excess skin left behind after weight loss to complete an improved look to the torso.

In-depth Procedure Information

The Consultation

Body contouring procedures, especially the mini abdominoplasty, are becoming more popular with men as an aesthetically pleasing appearance is just as important to the man of today. The experts at Reshape & Restore recognise and understand this desire and adopt a personalised approach to ensure their procedures are just as suitable to the male form as they are for women.

You can be sure that through a full and thorough consultation you will be given all the information you need to understand the procedure in full, including: techniques used, aftercare, recovery, side effects and potential risks. Part of our provision is to allow you the opportunity to speak with other guys who have had a successful outcome with Reshape & Restore. They can share their experiences with you and outline how a mini abdominoplasty has benefitted their lives.

The Procedure

Liposuction is often used as part of the mini tummy tuck procedure, to remove any excess fatty tissue in the lower abdomen. Tightening the skin is carried out by an incision made low down on the stomach; trimming away any excess skin before pulling the existing skin together and suturing.

The mini abdominoplasty is more suited to removing relatively small amounts of excess fat and sagging skin. Unlike the full tummy tuck, this procedure does not concentrate on remodelling internal tissue or strengthening the abdominal muscles.

Aftercare & Results

Before leaving the hospital you will be given pain relief advice and you will be fitted with a surgical support garment – which will help the body through its healing process. During the 6 – 8 weeks that the body will take to recover you will experience swelling, bruising and discomfort to the stomach. Successful healing will require you to lower your activity levels; taking time off work, avoiding heavy lifting and staying away from the gym.

It may take a few months for the full outcome of the mini tummy tuck procedure to become visible, after which you should feel more comfortable with a firmer, flatter stomach. Where the incision was made you may see some scarring, however you should easily be able to conceal this within your clothing and scarring will fade with time. The mini tummy tuck can be performed alongside other body lifting procedures, for an overall recontoured look.

FAQ's

When the stomach requires a relatively small amount of excess fat and / or skin to be removed, a mini abdominoplasty is often a more suitable surgical option. The results can help to produce a firmer, flatter look to the stomach, improving the contouring of the abdomen when diet and exercise have not quite delivered the look you want. Sagging skin can be left behind after significant weight loss, which can be just as uncomfortable and as aesthetically displeasing as the weight itself. When this concern is not very excessive, a mini tummy tuck can help to tighten the skin and improve elasticity, fitting more appropriately over the body’s new form.

A mini abdominoplasty is a safe procedure. The surgery is carried out by highly trained and qualified consultant plastic surgeons at Reshape & Restore, who are supported by a reputable team of professionals. Your safety and well-being is of great importance to the team at Reshape & Restore and every step is taken to ensure you are taken good care of.

As with many surgical body contouring procedures, the mini abdominoplasty will cause swelling, bruising and discomfort of the stomach. Reshape & Restore has a high success rate and further complications are rare. You will be informed during the consultation of the additional risks that surgery can bring, including: infection, haematoma, blood clots and delayed healing.

Preparing for surgery will include stopping smoking, stopping certain medications and ensuring you are close to your ideal weight and size. You will receive both written and verbal information about the procedure you will undergo, and the team at Reshape & Restore are always on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
