Thigh Lift
The thigh lift procedure works to recontour the thighs and create a firmer appearance. The techniques involved will surgically remove excess skin and tissue from the upper part of the leg to lift and tighten loose or sagging skin.
The skin on the thighs can lose elasticity as part of the ageing process. This concern does not often affect a person until quite late into adulthood, causing feelings of dissatisfaction with the appearance of the legs. Loose skin can also be a result of excessive weight loss, which also results from the body’s larger form having stretched the skin. When the skin hangs off various areas of the body, it can not only look displeasing, it can also be uncomfortable and cause irritation.

In-depth Procedure Information
The Consultation
Undergoing a thigh lift procedure is aimed at improving the appearance of loose or excess skin. By assessing your concerns at a thorough consultation our experts can determine if the removal of excess fat can help to rectify the concern and / or whether this will then require tightening of the skin.
Feeling confident and comfortable with the way you look is a part of a person’s well-being that is fully understood at Reshape & Restore. We approach each case individually and tailor each patient’s plan to suit their requirements, with a view to produce an outcome that is unique and in-keeping with their goals. We have a high rate of success at Reshape & Restore and our past patients are always happy to share their experiences with you in order to help you realise what can be achieved.
The Procedure
The type of thigh lift technique that will be used for your procedure will depend on your concerns and the extent of your loose / excess skin.
A medial thigh lift concentrates on the inner thigh. An incision is made in the groin from which excess skin and fat can be extracted. This allows for the contouring of the area inside the leg that runs from the groin, down to the knee.
An incision made at the top of the outer thigh enables a lateral thigh lift to be performed. This type of thigh lift can also address the buttocks and may be more beneficial when a larger amount of skin and tissue needs to be removed.
A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, can be carried out as part of a series of procedures to recontour the entire body which may or may not include liposuction.
Aftercare & Results
The full recovery time expected after a thigh lift procedure could take up to 6 or 8 weeks. This will depend on how well you look after yourself and follow the advice given to by your surgeon. The legs will feel sore and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. This can be managed through a suitable course of pain relief and lowered activity levels, taking time off work and avoiding driving. You will need to attend a series of follow-up appointments so that your surgeon can monitor your healing, as well as offering advice on returning to your usual routine.
The thigh lift can improve the tautness of the skin on the upper part of the legs, improving the look of loose and sagging skin. This procedure helps to restore the natural contouring of the legs and rejuvenate the look of tired and aged skin.
FAQ's
Loose skin on the legs can develop for a number of reasons, including: ageing skin, excess skin after weight loss or excess skin following a fat removal procedure such as liposuction. The main aim of the thigh lift is to address the presence of excess skin and is not intended to remove large amounts of fatty tissue as an alternative method of weight loss.
Your skin condition will be assessed during the consultation as skin that has a certain amount of elasticity left will find the results will be more successful. Although ageing skin can be addressed through this procedure, it is important to point out that it does not stop the ageing process from continuing on its path – meaning loosened skin may start to appear at a later date.
Procedures that produce a lifted effect to various areas of the body are frequently requested by many patients, for a variety of reasons. The surgery is carried out by trained and qualified surgeons at Reshape & Restore and have performed many successful and effective procedures during their years of experience.
A patient can typically expect to feel a degree of discomfort after their surgery. The legs will look red and bruised for several days, as well as experiencing some swelling. Scarring can occur where incisions have been made but, these should be placed fairly discreetly and will fade over time.
Risks of surgery may include: poor healing, thickened scarring, infection, haematoma and irregular contouring. Any concerns can be discussed with your surgeon prior to the surgery and you do experience any complications after the surgery, a member of the Reshape & Restore team will attend to your needs.
A procedure with Reshape & Restore will only go ahead when you are completely sure that it is the right solution for you. The consultation session will explore your reasons for wanting surgery and together you and your surgeon can decide on the best way forward. The information that is shared during the consultation will help to prepare you for what lies ahead and you will be given lots of information regarding any steps that will need to be taken both before and after your surgery.
