Am I a good candidate for ear surgery?

Otoplasty Worcester Prominent or oversized ears are often a source of embarrassment. They can overwhelm the other facial features and affect your self-confidence. If this sounds familiar and you are in good general health, you may be an excellent candidate for ear surgery.

However, before committing to surgery, you will have an initial consultation with one of our plastic surgery team. We ensure that all patients have realistic expectations of their surgery and that they understand the procedure and what the recovery period will be like.

We also take a complete medical history and ensure you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure.

Can children have ear pinning at the Worcester clinic?

Any unusual features, like prominent ears, can be particularly distressing for children, and our plastic surgeons have extensive experience in performing otoplasty surgery on children as young as 5.

How can otoplasty surgery in Worcester help?

Otoplasty is a simple corrective surgery that changes the size and shape of the ears and gives them a new position.

The cosmetic surgeon aims to give the patient ears that are more harmonious with the dimensions of their head and facial features.

Ear surgery can also correct the size of your earlobes by removing excess skin. Reconstructive surgery can mend damaged, split, or overstretched earlobes.

What happens during an otoplasty procedure?

Your ear surgery will begin with a small incision in the natural fold behind your ear. Excess skin and ear cartilage are trimmed as a new ear shape is created. Ear pinning will create an ear that curves neatly into the shape of the side of the skull.

Ear surgery is performed with a local anaesthetic and lasts one to two hours.

Will I need any recovery time after ear surgery?

Your ears will be bruised and tender after your plastic surgery. Most patients find that simple pain relief is sufficient to manage their discomfort.

You may also experience numbness in the treated area, which can last a couple of weeks.

After surgery, you will wear a protective bandage around your ears and a headband at night for six weeks.

How soon will I see the benefits of my plastic surgery in Worcester?

Your ears may be swollen for a few weeks after your plastic surgery, but when the swelling has disappeared, you will see that they are now in a new position and a size and shape that are in balance with the rest of your features.

You can see some pictures of patients before and after ear surgery here.

How much does ear surgery cost in Worcester?

Otoplasty and ear pinning procedures cost from £4 500.

This is just an indicative cost, and your plastic surgeons will confirm the total cost of your procedure at your pre-operative consultation.
