What is a mummy makeover?
Many women find that growing and nurturing a new life leaves a legacy on the body. Amid the joy of a new baby, there can be disappointment about the shape of the breasts, loose skin, or excess fat that will not shift even with a healthy diet and exercise. The mummy makeover procedure combines cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries to address the areas affected, boosting your self-esteem.
At the Reshape and Restore clinic in Worcester, the surgical team will design a personalised treatment plan that could include the following procedures;
Breast surgery
The size of the breasts increases considerably during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Once the baby has been weaned off the breast, the breasts may appear to have lost volume and be softer, flatter, smaller or larger than before.
Our talented aesthetic plastic surgeons can restore a youthful appearance to the breasts with a cosmetic surgical procedure. This may involve a breast lift, breast reduction, or a breast enlargement, often using breast implants.
Tummy tuck
Many women are familiar with the appearance of loose, overstretched skin and muscle on the abdomen after giving birth. This skin can be trimmed away, and the slackened muscles can be tightened to give your abdomen a smoother, flatter profile.
Thigh lift
Once you have lost your pregnancy weight you may find that loose skin has been left behind and the thighs are often a problem area. This excess skin can be removed with a lift procedure that will tighten and lift the tissues on the thighs, restoring a more contoured shape.
Our surgical team also offers lift procedures for the arms and buttocks.
Rejuvenation of the vagina
Vaginal childbirth can sometimes adversely affect the genital area. Some women feel happier in their intimate relationships after plastic surgery to rejuvenate the vagina and labia.
Liposuction
Weight accumulates throughout the body during pregnancy, not just on the ‘baby bump’. Even with a good diet and regular exercise, it can be difficult to lose this stubborn fat.
The aesthetic surgeons at Reshape and Restore often use liposuction to remove fat and resculpt the body.
Liposuction is particularly useful for patients concerned about the appearance of their thighs, stomach, upper arms, buttocks, and chin.

Am I a good candidate for a mummy makeover procedure?
If you are unhappy with the way that your body has changed after giving birth, then you may be a good candidate for the mummy makeover procedure.
Your first step is to arrange a private consultation with one of our consultant plastic surgeons. They will listen to your concerns and advise you on the best surgeries to restore your body’s appearance.
You will need to be in good general health before your surgery so that we can take a full medical history to check that the surgery is appropriate for you.
Ideally, you will have completed your family before your mummy makeover, as having more children could mean your body changes again.
Will all my makeover surgeries be performed simultaneously?
It is possible to perform different plastic surgery procedures at the same time.
For example, our aesthetic surgeons can perform a breast lift and/or breast augmentation, tummy tuck, vaginal rejuvenation and thigh lift during one surgical procedure.
How long will my procedure take?
A typical makeover takes around four hours in surgery, but the duration varies according to the combination of procedures being performed.
What is the recovery time after a post-pregnancy body makeover?
You will be tender and bruised after surgery, but discomfort should be manageable with simple pain relief.
We recommend that women take at least a month off work, as it may take up to two months for their bodies to fully recover from surgery.
You will return to the Reshape and Restore Clinic for regular follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress.
Every woman’s body recovers differently, and your plastic surgeon will advise you when you are ready to resume normal activities.
How much do body makeovers cost at Reshape and Restore in Worcester?
The price of the mummy makeover procedure starts at £ 6500, but it will vary depending on the procedures undertaken.
