What causes the breasts to droop?
A woman’s breasts change over time with the impact of hormones, weight changes, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The skin loses its elasticity, and over time, the breast tissue becomes less dense and firm. The breasts lose volume, becoming flatter and lower on the chest. These changes can have a profound impact on self-esteem.
A breast lift procedure will create a more youthful and defined shape for the breasts.
What does breast lift surgery involve at the Worcester clinic?
Firstly, the surgeon will make two incisions: one from the crease of the breast to the nipple and then a second around the nipple.
These incisions give access to the breast tissue, which can be remodelled into a more pleasing shape. It may also be necessary to remove loose skin to give a tauter shape.
The procedure will be performed under general anaesthetic.
Are any other procedures used to improve sagging breasts?
Your surgeon may suggest that the shape of your breasts could be further improved by the insertion of implants to replace lost breast volume.
A nipple lift is often performed at the same time as the breast uplift to ensure that the nipples are in the best position possible on your rejuvenated breasts.
After assessing your case, your surgeon may suggest that a different plastic surgery, perhaps, a breast reduction, would be a more effective solution to your dissatisfaction with your breasts.
You can discuss these options with your plastic surgeon at your initial consultation at the clinic in Worcester.
Is breast lift surgery painful?
The surgery itself is performed under general anaesthetic.
There will be swelling and bruising after breast lift surgery which may last for a few weeks. You will be given pain relief to manage your discomfort.
What will be the recovery period after a breast uplift in Worcester?
You will spend the first night after surgery in the Spire South Bank Hospital and will be reviewed by your plastic surgeon before leaving the next day.
Most patients take a couple of weeks off work to rest after surgery. You should be able to return to driving after a couple of weeks, but your surgeon will advise you when you are ready to return to resume sports and workouts at the gym.
You will come to the clinic in Worcester for regular checkups for the first few months after your procedure.
When will I see the results of my breast lift?
Individuals vary, but the post-operative swelling should have reduced significantly after three months.
By this stage, the new shape and position of your breasts will be apparent. A breast uplift will give you firmer breasts with a more defined shape and elevated position.
