If the effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding have affected your positive body self-image, you may like to contact the Reshape and Restore cosmetic surgery clinic about a mummy makeover in Bristol.

As well as the joy of a bouncing baby, motherhood can leave you with stretch marks and excess skin and fat on the abdomen. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can also affect breast shape and volume.

The mummy tuck or mummy makeover is increasingly being used in cosmetic practice to restore the body and importantly restore lost confidence in young mothers.

Mr Khan and Mr Chapman, founders of the Reshape and Restore clinic, are highly respected plastic surgeons who offer body and breast rejuvenation in Bristol.

The Reshape and Restore clinic is based in the Bristol Spire Hospital and offers a wide range of cosmetic procedures.

What does the mummy makeover procedure include at Reshape and Restore in Bristol?

Diet and exercise alone cannot always restore the body to its youthful pre-pregnancy state.

The term ‘mummy makeover’ refers to a combination of body procedures that Mr Khan and Mr Chapman offer which will address the areas that concern you.

These include:

Breast rejuvenation surgery

The breasts can appear empty after pregnancy and breastfeeding or may be left much larger and softer than before. Their appearance can be restored with a combination of breast lift and augmentation usually with implants.

Tummy tuck

The loose skin left on the abdomen after pregnancy can be trimmed during a tummy tuck. The muscles that were overstretched by your baby bump can be tightened to give a smoother tummy area.

Thigh lift

Pregnancy weight gain and loss can leave slack skin on the thighs which can be tightened with a thigh lift.

Rejuvenation of the vagina and labia

Childbirth can affect the tissues in the genital area and their appearance can be improved with sensitive intimate surgery to restore the shape of the labia.

Liposuction

It can be tough to lose stubborn fat after pregnancy but liposuction can be used on the chin, thighs, stomach, upper arms and buttocks to restore a sleeker body.

What is the consultation process at Reshape and Restore Bristol?

Mr Khan and Mr Chapman always have two consultations with patients who are interested in the mummy makeover.

At your first consultation, your general health will be assessed and your surgeon will give you an honest opinion on whether surgery is right for you and what it could achieve.

Mr Chapman and Mr Khan always discuss the techniques to be used during surgery and ensure that patients are aware of any potential risks or complications.

You will have a second consultation when you can ask any further questions and sign your consent form.

How long will my body and breast rejuvenation surgery take?

Surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and usually lasts around four hours. However, as the surgical team at Reshape and Restore Bristol approach each mummy tuck procedure with the patient’s individual requirements in mind so it is hard to specify the duration.

Depending on the combination of surgeries that you choose it may be possible for your procedures to be performed at the same time.

Typically patients will have a breast augmentation and lift, tummy tuck and thigh lift in the same surgical session.

You can find specific details of all the procedures that could be part of your mummy makeover here.

The recovery process after post-pregnancy rejuvenation surgery in Bristol

You will feel sore and tender after surgery. Your pain will be managed with pain relief and you may stay in the Bristol Spire for a couple of days.

It may take up to 8 weeks for your body to recover from surgery and Mr Khan and Mr Chapman usually advise patients to take four weeks off work. You will return to the Bristol clinic for follow-up appointments until you are fully healed.

As you progress, your surgeon will advise when it is the right time to return to driving and then to the gym and more strenuous activities.

Is the mummy makeover a safe procedure?

All surgery carries the risk of complications like bleeding, bruising and infection.

By choosing an excellent surgical team like the one at Reshape and Restore in Bristol you are minimising those risks.

Mr Chapman and Mr Khan are extremely experienced surgeons who have performed many mummy makeovers and you can have complete confidence in their work.
