Why you might choose to have labial reshaping in Bristol

LabiaplastySome women are born with overly large labia minora or vaginal lips.

If the lips protrude, physical discomfort can be caused during exercise or cycling, for example. In extreme cases, the labia may be visible in swimwear or leggings, making women feel self-conscious. Intimate relationships can also be affected as the enlarged labia may be uncomfortable during sexual intercourse.

It is quite common for one side of the vaginal lips to be larger than the other, and this unevenness can also affect body confidence.

Other women experience changes to the vaginal opening after childbirth, particularly after a traumatic birth.

Whatever the case of your dissatisfaction, rest assured that the team at Reshape and Restore in Bristol will be able to offer a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of your labia, improving your comfort and self-confidence.

What does labial reduction surgery in Bristol involve?

Your surgeon will make an incision along the inside of one or both of your labia as required. This incision is used to remodel the labia minora, trimming away unwanted tissue to give a more aesthetically pleasing size and shape.

The wound is closed is using dissolvable sutures.

Labiaplasty is usually performed under local anaesthetic but longer surgical procedures may require general anaesthesia and an overnight stay in the Spire Hospital in Bristol.

Your recovery from intimate surgery in our Bristol clinic

If you had a general anaesthetic during your labial reduction, you will stay in the hospital overnight. Before you leave the hospital, you will be carefully assessed by your cosmetic surgeon and given pain relief if necessary. You are likely to suffer some pain, swelling and bruising, but these will soon pass.

You will have a follow-up appointment after a week and your progress will be monitored at regular further appointments until you are healed.

Your surgeon will advise you to take a week off work and discourage you from driving for two to three weeks.

When will I see the full benefits of my surgery?

It may take several months for the final results to develop. When your body has healed fully, your vaginal lips will be neater and the excess skin that was causing discomfort and embarrassment will be gone.
